Caelum Biochar
As Africa’s largest maize producer, with over 4.2 million acres of land harvested annually, our initial focus is Malawi. This agricultural activity leaves behind millions of tons of crop waste, which is typically burned. The environmental cost is enormous, but so is the opportunity. By transforming this waste into biochar, we can sequester carbon, enrich the soil, and create sustainable jobs
By transforming the maize waste into biochar, we’re improving agricultural productivity and creating jobs. In the next five years, we aim to generate over 305,000 carbon credits from this process, uplifting local communities and expanding their ability to diversify revenue opportunities and create jobs.
